I spent a couple days this week- having high-fived Seth as he returned from pig hunting- at the CYBERCOM legal conference in DC. Nothing worth mentioning there, minus a long-overdue happy hour with girlfriends and a traffic-induced drive back down 301 to avoid the horrors of I-95 South. 301 follows the John Wilkes Booth "Escape Byway" and I went full nerd stopping at historical markers like this one.
I got home in time to wrap a nutty week and enjoy a much-needed weekend at home, in lovely North Carolina early spring temps. We had dinner and shuffleboard at the club, hit the trails and parks with friends,
eschewed cooking in favor of Papa Murphy's,
and acted terrible with the Ryans on Saturday night. Complete with the incineration of s'mores.
Seth, who had definitely earned it, spent much of the weekend like this, chasing bass and loving time on the lake.
Today dawned stunningly beautiful (60 and sunny), so the kids and I hiked with friends,
followed it up with ice cream,
and dropped in on the Ballesteros crew. During which time Finley pretended she likes babies (a labor of love for Aunt Leah) and Ford and Gabe played Davy Crockett. Because that's still a thing.
All in all, it was a slow, lovely, sunny, warm, much-needed weekend at home.
And of course my favorite photo was of these adorable two sleeping off another Daylight Savings Time disruption. Not a bad way to start a Sunday.
