Lots and lots of chill, and donut whines.

After a week like the last week+, it was only fitting that we cordon off some downtime.
And so we did. I logged a couple of lovely, unexpectedly warm, evenings of coming home to peals of laughter across the playground,

we had some contentious (family tradition) game nights,
and we finally made it to the one and only Miss Sally's for old school good times.
Following a Saturday morning inspection, West Point- style,
Ford got a much-needed haircut
and Finley caught up with her best frenemy, Brannagh.
An unseasonably warm Sunday brought church shenanigans,
hiking with friends,
and a trip to the fabulous Weymouth Woods nature discovery center.
(Followed by a classic Ryan-Nieman Super Bowl party, complete with matching pajamas.)
And, because we had a late call today, I took the kids to a reenlistment at the drop zone. Where they got to watch skydivers, try on parachutes, jump out of mock doors, and clamber around planes.
But mostly, they whined about the fact that I had promised them donuts.
Can't impress Army kids.

January was a Long Year.

January, as they say, was a long year. We weren't quite sure we would make it. Work was utter mayhem, for all the reasons I get paid not...
