Just Summer.

I'm a little behind on blogging, but that may be because we've sunk into a lovely, Deep South heat-soaked, Jayne-facilitated routine of pool days and hanging out and just enjoying each other. The way summers should be.

Soccer camp was a rousing success,
Seth and I got in some date rides (he left me in the dust),
and birthday parties and baby showers were survived by all.
Dance pictures came back and proved once and for all that fools and their money are soon parted (albeit hilariously),
games were played,
nails were painted,
a new F-250 was purchased (!!!)
very best friends moved to the Center of the Universe (to the eternal delight of these little Army kids) (bonus that they have a pool in their backyard),
and the pool became the only way to survive a Southern summer. (And, thanks to Grandma, got multiple daily visits.)
Also, long overdue swimming lessons commenced
Ford continued his poolside tyranny (now, with a buddy),
and driving lessons and couch snuggles dominated our summer evenings.
Life is good.

My favorite photos of the week are this one, of F+F and their favorite guy planning an ambush,

and Ford's naked butt after a third post-dinner dip, having refused to put on wet swim trucks.

Can you blame him?

January was a Long Year.

January, as they say, was a long year. We weren't quite sure we would make it. Work was utter mayhem, for all the reasons I get paid not...
