A skipped wedding, a trip to the lake, and an odd amount of nudity.

Our first week of summer consisted of only three work/school days, but we still felt mostly like this about it:
(pictured here: Ford disgruntled about something, eating chicken tenders and wearing nothing but a Mickey hat. Don't ask.)

Somehow we made it to the weekend, which started off like this:
followed by an eye-opener of a costume reveal for Finley's upcoming dance recital. (Accompanied by the realization that we seriously need to make her practice this week.)
And then we skipped the wedding we were planning to head off to (and were really looking forward to) in Louisville because it was just too much back-to-back travel, and instead took the camper to Jordan Lake to iron out the "get used to operating an RV" kinks and enjoy a little family downtime.
It was exactly what the doctor ordered, and the best, funniest weekend any of us could remember. Even if I sliced my foot open on a shattered beer bottle in a parking lot and had to do a lot of hopping.

Seriously. What is so hard about cans??
We laughed hard and slept good and ate s'mores and watched the sunset from our kayaks (some of us sporting stolen sunglasses).
Ford got to fish with his Dad,
Seth got to put the Jackson fishing machine in the water for the first time in awhile (and true to form, it caught a couple),
and Finley got to be a barefoot hooligan for the better part of the weekend. Basically, everybody won.
Plus, Ford with nothing on but a pirate towel eating goldfish on the beach and glaring at the world is #goals.
After a quick stop for this amazing lunch,
the weekend took its toll on everyone not driving
and we sprinted across the Sunday finish line doing 85 loads of sandy laundry, prepping meat (this picture cracks me up),
and taking a quick pool break to remind ourselves why we love where we live.
Cheers to summer weekends! and this incredible shot of one happy kid, just hanging out with his binoculars and not a stitch of clothing. We should all be so lucky.

January was a Long Year.

January, as they say, was a long year. We weren't quite sure we would make it. Work was utter mayhem, for all the reasons I get paid not...
